Ömer BAYRAK was born in 1965 in Samsun. After finishing his primary school education there he continued his education in İstanbul.  In 1981, he graduated from Bayrampaşa Industrial Vocational High School as a chemistry technician. He graduated from Zonguldak Engineering Faculty in 1987 as a mining engineer. After some experience in the private sector, he worked as an Occupational Engineer, Occupational Safety Engineer and Research Project Engineer in TKİ’s Directorate of Güney Anadolu Linyitleri İşletmesi Müessesesi (Cizre – Şırnak) in 1990. In 1994, he was appointed as Director to TKİ’s Directorate in Orta Anadolu Linyitleri Müessesesi. Here, Mr. BAYRAK assumed various engineer related positions. In June 2000, he was appointed to Electricity Generation Company (EÜAŞ) where he served as a Business Engineer, Control Engineer, Control Supervisor, and as Assistant to Control and Supervisor Manager, respectively. In the same period, he worked in the Çayırhan Basin’s reserve determination studies, drilling projects, underground operation projects and thermal power plant installation projects. He resigned in November 2008 and became the Mayor of Çayırhan in March 2009 elections. Between March 2014 and April 2016, he served as Nallıhan Deputy Mayor and from March 2014 to June 2017 as a member of the Metropolitan Municipality Assembly. Between July 2016 and June 2017, he became the General Manager to the new Çeltek Coal and Mining Inc., a publicly owned subsidiary. He resigned on May 26, 2017 and as of the same date he was appointed as the Chairman to the geological survey department of TKİ, and as of May 31, 2017 he is the General Manager and the Deputy Chairman of the Board of Directors of TKİ. Ömer BAYRAK is married and a father of two.
