With the freezing weather still gripping the country and causing cuts, the British electricity and gas company National Grid has warned that UK will not have enough gas to meet the public demand by Thursday. Although the government has assured the public that, due to suppliers’ like British Gas’ foresight, there will not be any cuts or any increases in the gas bills, the experts expect the industrial consumers to face cuts especially with technical difficulties arising from extreme cold weather. Within the same day of the formal deficit warning, which played as a call for suppliers to up their gas supply, wholesale gas prices soared by %74. The consumer demand is expected to sustain the current levels as the cold weather continues its country wide effect. – The Guardian
